Youth Opportunity Pathway

Youth engagement is a powerful way for community-based organizations and government agencies to involve the young people they serve to improve the system.  Youth engagement offers the expertise and partnership of young people. Youth provide a valuable and unique perspective to address issues due to the “way they think” (brain development) and they are closer to the problems and know more about the issues.

The goal of Youth Opportunity Pathway within the Division of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning, is to diversify current decision-making and future leadership, by:

  • State agencies authentically engaging youth to create and deliver improved services and resources.
  • Youth being able to participate in challenging experiences, with the necessary support to help them succeed.
  • All youth progress on the opportunity pathway.
