Planned Parenthood will launch Teen Council, an evidence-based, culturally relevant peer education program that aims to halt the rise of STIs, decrease unintended teen pregnancy, and address unacceptable health inequities. Program participants, aged 15 to 19, gain sexual health expertise and specialized skills training, empowering them to provide community education and serve as vital resources for their friends and families. Prioritizing engagement of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other under-resourced youth, Teen Council will elevate youth voices and expand access to sexual health resources in Polk County. Teaching other teens about healthy sexuality can be a transformative experience for young people—they become leaders as they learn about the power of speaking out and acting on their beliefs.
