Executive Director for Urban Dreams and Mid-Iowa Health Foundation Board Member
Izaah Knox joined Mid-Iowa Health Foundation's Board of Directors in 2019 and serves on the Investment and Governance Committees. He is the Executive Director for Urban Dreams. Previously he worked at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield as the Community Outreach Consultant and at Des Moines Area Community College as an adjunct, advisor, and YouthBuild education coordinator. Izaah sits on multiple boards, commissions, and advisory and steering committees, and is active in many other ways. He is the immediate past-chair of the Des Moines Human and Civil Rights Commission and a tri-chair of the Capital Crossroads 2.0 Social Capital. Izaah has received the following recognitions: United States of America President’s Volunteer Service Award (2012), Iowa’s Most Interesting and Influential People by the Des Moines Register (2013), Register Person to Watch (2015), Des Moines Business Record Forty Under 40 (2016), and a Business Person to Know in the DSM Book of Lists (2019). Izaah is a two-time Drake University graduate with an undergraduate degree in journalism and a master’s degree in Education. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Iowa State University and was elected in 2022 to the Iowa State Senate for Senate District 17.
